Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Gets Revealed

Tablets are becoming very important devices as many consumers are anxiously awaiting the latest devices. Of course, the hype started with the release of the iPad which essentially introduced the mass market to the slate tablet form factor. Following the release of the iPad came many different high powered devices typically running the tablet-centric build of Android known as Honeycomb.

However, the first big name Android powered tablet to hit the market wasn’t running Android Honeycomb but instead the smartphone specific Android Froyo. This tablet, of course, is none other than the Samsung Galaxy Tab. While the device featured some noteworthy specs it is virtually obsolete when compared to Samsung’s newer offerings such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1. So, what is a consumer to do when they have their eye set on a 7-inch tablet but don’t want to settle for less? Well, then they should probably check out the freshly announced Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, also from Samsung.
Quite obviously, this device features a 7-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, rear facing camera for taking normal pictures, front facing camera for video conference calls and HSPA+ connectivity. On the software side of things Samsung has graced the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus with Android ‘Honeycomb’ 3.2 which is sure to please those looking for the most up to date software.
Unfortunately, the press release Samsung issued didn’t really give us more information such as how much storage the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will come with or what resolution the front/rear facing cameras will feature. However, they were kind enough to let us know the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be making its way to locales including the US, Europe, China, Japan, Middle East and more towards the end of October. We’ll keep you posted as more information is made available regarding the rest of the hardware specs that are currently unknown.

Samsung Galaxy S II Now Available From AT&T

There has been a lot of fuss lately over the legal battle between Samsung and Apple. If you’re not aware, Apple is essentially suing Samsung for copying the designs of devices including the iPhone and iPad. While Apple has had some victories, Samsung has been free to release pretty much whatever they want in the United States. And do that they have as they have been bringing the highly sought after Galaxy S II to many different carriers.

Already the Galaxy S II is available through Sprint as the Epic 4G Touch and on T-Mobile but AT&T has yet to get the love. That is, until now. That’s right, it was just made known this morning that AT&T is now offering the Galaxy S II for $199.99 with 2-year contract. If you’re not familiar with this phone you better learn fast as it’s currently considered one of the highest end Android powered smartphones on the market.
Samsung’s Galaxy S II picks up where the original device left off coming complete with 4.27-inch AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD slot for an additional 32GB of storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and 1080p video capture, 2 megapixel front facing camera for video conference calls, HSPA+ connectivity, built-in NFC chip, all the normal sensors including proximity, ambient light, accelerometer and gyroscope and of course Google’s Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.4.
Not only does the Galaxy S II feature very noteworthy specs but it also features the NFC technology as I mentioned above. This is great news as many different companies are coming forth with services that use the NFC chip in innovative ways. For example, one way Google is taking advantage of the NFC emergence is with Google Wallet – a brand new service that quite literally lets you pay with your cell phone.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Officially Announced

Android phones have been coming out fast and furiously from hardware manufacturers across the board. Due to this, it’s been quite hard for consumers to get too excited about any specific phone as chances are a better one is just over the horizon. Luckily, Google has been releasing their own devices in conjunction with high profile manufacturers that fall into their Nexus Line. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that a very hyped device falling into said Nexus line sometimes referred to as the Nexus Prime has been talked about quite a bit.

Well, we’re here to tell you today that the device in question is not the Nexus Prime at all but is instead dubbed the Galaxy Nexus – another name we’ve been hearing thrown around. The specs aren’t quite the powerhouse we’ve been hearing in the past but are definitely noteworthy nonetheless; let’s take a look.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will come equipped with the latest Google’s Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ 4.0. Hardware wise we’ve got a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display (that’s a 1280 x 720 resolution), dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 5 megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video capture at 30fps and a new panorama mode, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC chip, compass, proximity sensor, accelerometer and a barometer. In terms of customized models we’re looking at 16 or 32GB of storage and HSPA+ and LTE on the horizon.
Where will be able to grab the phone and at what price point? Unfortunately the specs are the lengths at which Samsung was willing to talk. However, in the past we’ve heard that Verizon will be picking up the device (which lines up nicely with the future LTE model) and the HSPA+ model suggests that either T-Mobile or AT&T will also be grabbing the phone.
Stay tuned as more information is made available regarding this highly sought after device.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Listed With November 17 Release Date on Amazon UK

There were several Android related announcements that recently went down that can largely be considered some of the biggest in recent memory. First, Google came forth to announce Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which is by and far the latest and great version to date. This platform, just as a quick reminder, takes design cues from both Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the tablet centric Android 3.0 Honeycomb making for a platform suitable for both form factors. Of course, there are many other high profile features included in this release but we’ve already covered those extensively.

The next announcement was the Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Google’s next smartphone addition to the Nexus line up. Hardware wise we’re looking at a 4.65-inch SuperAMOLED display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution, dual-core TI OMAP 4460 ARM Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of built-in storage, 5 megapixel rear facing camera with dual LED flash and 1080p HD video capture, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth and various models running at 4G speeds including HSPA+ and LTE. Additionally, the Galaxy Nexus will also be the first phone to ship with the above mentioned Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – the first of many, of course.
While we’ve learned pretty much everything there is to know about the Galaxy Nexus’ hardware and the Android 4.0 platform by which it will be powered we are much less informed as to when exactly it will be released. Verizon has already announced they will be carrying the device and leaks have suggested it will be accompanied by a pricey $299.99 price tag but still nothing official has been announced.
Luckily, the fine folks over at Amazon UK have posted a Galaxy Nexus listing that gives us the supposed release date of November 17th. While this may be an official release date leaked early there is a good chance it’s simply a place holder for an official release date to be announced at a later time. Furthermore, there’s also a very good chance that the Galaxy Nexus will make its way to the UK on a different date than there rest of the world.

AT&T Bringing 4G LTE to New York City

Just about every major carrier in the United States is rolling out a 4G network in one form or another. Sprint currently has their WiMAX network rolled out while AT&T and Verizon are in the process or rolling out their LTE networks. T-Mobile currently has HSPA+ (alongside AT&T) which isn’t technically 4G despite constantly being branded as such.

Anyways, the general consensus is that LTE is currently the most advanced 4G network on the market with even Sprint admitting their intentions to eventually make the switch. When exactly this will happen we aren’t sure to for now those who want LTE connectivity will have to stick to either AT&T or Verizon when it comes to big name carriers.
AT&T was a bit late to the party as compared to Verizon so their network is currently still in its infancy. Luckily, with each passing day comes more markets. Today, AT&T has announced that they will be bringing LTE connectivity to New York City in the near future. Unfortunately they failed to mention when exactly this will happen so for now we’ll have to sit tight.
This is definitely big news as New York City is, well, New York City and is sure to be filled with consumers itching for some high speed mobile broadband. Wondering what devices you’ll be able to use on that network when it does drop? When it comes to tablets, there is the HTC Jetstream 4G available powered by Google’s Android and on the smartphone side of things you will soon have devices such as the Galaxy S II Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid.
Again, we aren’t sure when exactly AT&T will be lighting up their NYC LTE network but stick around and you’ll be the first to know.

Samsung Epic 4G Touch Now Available at $199.99

Unlike Apple’s iOS, manufacturers across the board are free to utilize Google’s Android pretty much however they please. In fact, Google has been known to license the mobile operating system to a large amount of hardware manufacturers. While some may argue this may make for some shoddy phones along the way it has certainly helped Google reach their goal of becoming one of the most used mobile platforms in the world.

Add that to the fact that there are several very high profile companies working with Android and you have a recipe for success. Samsung, for example, has known to push out highly sought after phones running Android with their Galaxy S long being their flagship phone. However, now that the Galaxy S has been on the market for so long it’s time for the company to seek brighter pastures. And do that they have as the Samsung Galaxy S II is finally available in the US of A thanks to Sprint making it availbale for order. Dubbed the Epic 4G Touch, this device features all of the specs we’ve come to know and love of the Galaxy S II including a 4.27-inch AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 1650 mAh battery and Google’s Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.4 with the TouchWiz 3.0 UI.
Seeing how the device has the 4G moniker within its name, it’s no secret that it also features connectivity for Sprint’s high speed WiMAX network much like the highly popular HTC EVO 4G. Even better, the device won’t cost you a penny more than $199.99 so those expecting to pay as high as $300 will be pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, there is still no word on when carriers such as T-Mobile and AT&T will get their hands on the device but we’ll keep you posted.

Samsung Galaxy S III Specs Reportedly Leaked

Hardware manufacturers release new smartphone in a rapid fire fashion with a new device getting announce just about every day. Due to this high level of market saturation it is very hard for companies to differentiate their offerings and make any given device stand out from the pack. However, there are several high profile hardware manufacturers that are virtually gauranteed air time with their new devices – Samsung being one of them.

Samsung has long been a critically acclaimed electronics manufacturer but their smartphone shine (in particular regard to Android) really came with the Galaxy S. This device was released on just about every major carrier in the United States and quickly became one of the top selling Android powered smartphones. Due to its success, Samsung quickly followed it up with the Galaxy S II. In fact, just recently the Galaxy S II was made available on Sprint as the Epic 4G Touch complete with added WiMAX connectivity, a faster processor, larger screen, higher resolution camera and many other things.
But, with the Galaxy S II already out, what is next? According to our sources, the Galaxy S III. Now, there’s been nothing official to confirm this device’s existence but considering the Galaxy S II is expected to be highly popular, a third generation device would seem very fitting. But, that’s not what you care about, what you care about is the Galaxy S III’s specs.
Well, according to this leak the Galaxy S III will feature a 4.52-inch display with a massive 1280 x 1024 resolution, 2GHz quad-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, 10 megapixel rear facing camera and, presumably, a front facing camera of sorts in addition to a 2250mAh battery. On the software front our sources tell us that the Galaxy S III will be running the unreleased Android Ice Cream Sandwich along with TouchWiz 5.0.
As I mentioned, none of this is confirmed but it certainly lines up with what we would expect to happen. Stay tuned for more information regarding this super powerful device.

Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 Update Leaks for Samsung Infuse 4G and Galaxy S 4G

With Apple’s expected iPhone announcement currently set for the 4th of October news outlets everywhere are hot on the press. However, that’s not to say that there aren’t currently a ton of different high powered Android phones on the market that have been drawing user interest themselves. For example, the long awaited Samsung Galaxy S II recently hit Sprint in the form of the Epic 4G Touch and has been well received across the board.

However, what if you’ve got an earlier Samsung phone and are looking for some lovin’ yourself? Well, it seems that if you have the Infuse 4G or Galaxy S 4G you’re in luck.
If you’re an owner of one of these phones you’re sure to know that neither have been updated to the latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 just yet. This is a cold image of an ongoing problem within the Android ecosystem that has seen updates get delayed tremendously for various smartphones despite their obvious popularity.
Luckily, the highly dedicated Android community is continuously at work doing what they can to keep their fellow brethren happy. Many times, when a phone doesn’t get updated to the latest version of Android in a timely fashion the community will come forth with their own build. However, it’s getting much more common for official updates to leak for any given smartphone on the market.
Such a thing has happened with both the above mentioned Infuse 4G and Galaxy S 4G from Samsung. Of course, despite the fact that these updates have been deemed official, they have not been released officially. This means that you will need to root your device in order to flash the updated ROM. This could potentially be a turn off for some consumers who doesn’t like to tinker with the underlying code.
On that note, if you’re willing to root and flash your device, be sure to proceed at your own risk. Got it? Good, for more information head here.

Samsung Galaxy S II Tops 10 Million Global Sales

Google’s Android has given many different hardware manufacturers the power they need to succeed. In fact, Android has gotten so popular that companies like HTC, Motorola and Samsung have pushed out some of the best selling smartphones on the market. Samsung, in particular, has managed to find a massive amount of success with a few of their smartphones with the Galaxy S being a perfect example.

This device was released in the United States last year with noteworthy specs for the time. However, Samsung did a smart thing and released the device for just about every US carrier on the market. This helped the phone reach a much wider audience which, in turn, translated into massive sales for the company.
Well, if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that Samsung recently came forth with their follow up Galaxy S device appropriately dubbed the Galaxy S II. In terms of hardware the Galaxy S II bumps things up considerably featuring things such as a 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage, microSD slot for additional storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video capture and LED flash, 2 megapixel front facing camera and of course Google’s Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.4.
As you can see, the Galaxy S II is quite literally one of the most powerful Android powered devices on the market. But, what happens when you combine a behemoth like the Galaxy S brand with such a high powered phone? Well, according to recent reports you get high sales numbers. Samsung has recently come forth to let us know that they have already managed to push a very noteworthy 10 million Galaxy S II units world wide. This is great news considering the Galaxy S II has yet to come to T-Mobile – the carrier which the original Galaxy S saw the most success on.

Samsung Galaxy S II Android 2.3.5 ROM Leaks

A ton of hype has been circulating regarding the Samsung Galaxy S II and this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Not only does the phone feature top of the line specs like a 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8 megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video capture but Samsung just announced that the device has already clocked in 10 million sales world wide. Due to all of this hype, it’s becoming hard to think that any phone besides the Galaxy S II is the premiere Android powered smartphone in current times.

While this may not be true for much longer, the Galaxy S II looks to be here to stay for quite some time. If you’re a happy owner of the device and are looking to get a leg up on the competition, listen up. It was just made known that a new update for the device, the Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.5 update to be exact, has recently leaked. Now, as with all things like this, the Android 2.3.5 update in question was not released officially but instead was snaked from Samsung’s servers one way or another. On that note, if you choose to flash your device with this ROM make note that you will need to proceed at your own risk. If you’re well aware of the risks associated with such activities head over to SamFirmware for more information here.
If you’re not familiar with the Android 2.3.5 update and are wondering what it brings allow me to give a quick run down. The killer feature of Android 2.3.5 is the added support for NFC technology which, in turn, makes Google Wallet (a service that allows you to purchase things with your smartphone), well, function. Other than that there isn’t much to be seen here besides some reception bug fixes and a widget for 4G settings.
Regardless, it’s always nice to have the newest things, right?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Sales Blocked in Australia

With such a high level of competition it’s really no surprise that companies are continuously suing each other over patent infringements. In fact, as of late many cmpanies have been buying up as many patents as they can in an effort to protect themselves from almost inevitable law suits. Apple, for example, has been one company known to throw law suits around with their latest foray being pointed directly at Samsung.

If you ahven’t been paying attention, according to these law suits Samsung infringed on several patents held by Apple with products including the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab. Of course, if you take a look at the iPhone next to the Galaxy S you can see some similarities but it’s also quite easy to tell that these are in fact two very different phones. Same thing with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (the company’s first Android Honeycomb powered tablet) which, when compared to the iPad, looks as similar as two devices in the same niche would but still definitely two different devices. Then again, I’m no patent lawyer.
Anyways, this war doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon as Apple has been taking some pretty drastic measures to make sure that Samsung is unable to grow their tablet business and take a chunk away from the iPad. In fact, it was just made known that Apple has completely banned Samsung from selling the Galayx Tab 10.1 in Australia. According to our sources this ban will be in place until Australian courts are able to decipher whether or not Samsung is infringing on several patents held by Apple in relation to a tablet.
What do you think about this whole fiasco? Is Samsung legitimately trying to rip off Apple’s design or are they just following the latest trends in the market? Let us know what you think!

Samsung Conquer 4G Hitting Sprint on August 21 for $100

There are many trends happening in the mobile world with full touchscreen form factors being a prime example. However as of late many manufacturers have been flocking to other technologies to push devices and differentiate themselves in this highly competitive market. Sprint, for one, has managed to push their 4G WiMAX network very heavily across the nation with many different devices coming equipped with 4G connectivity.

The first device to hit Sprint with 4G connectivity was none other than the HTC EVO 4G. I don’t even have to say how popular this device has been as despite being released more than a year ago it’s still a very relevant device on today’s market. But Sprint quite evidently didn’t stop there as they’ve been continuing to push out devices with 4G connectivity including the Epic 4G – Sprint’s variation of the highly popular Samsung Galaxy S complete with slide-out QWERTY keyboard and front facing camera.
Expect this trend to continue as consumers look for higher mobile speeds on their mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. Unsurprisingly, Sprint has recently once again taken center stage to show off yet another device with built-in 4G connectivity dubbed the Samsung Conquer 4G. We’ve heard about this device quite a bit in the past but Sprint has kept quite when it comes to both its release date and price point. In terms of hardware, the Conquer 4G features a 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 resolution, 1GHz processor, 3.2 megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Software wise the Conquer 4G comes equipped with Google’s latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3.
As I mentioned above we haven’t been able to pin point a release date nor price tag for the device. Luckily, Sprint has just let us know that the Samsung Conquer 4G will be available for purchase on August 21st for $100 with a 2-year contract. Not a bad price point especially for a device that features some note worthy specs. Anyone looking to get down on the fun?

Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 Gets Announced

Google’s Android is without a doubt one of the most popular mobile platforms currently on the market. You’re sure to know this as it’s made evident by the plethora of different devices that get announced on a daily basis running the platform. However, while the number of devices runnign on the platform is large, the classification of devices tend to be both smartphones and tablets with not much else getting into the mix. This isn’t much of a problem due to the fact that, well, consumers love Android powered smartphones and tablets. However, it might be a problem for consumers on a budget due to the fact that owning an Android powered tablet or smartphone is quite expensive.

This means that unless you’re willing to shell up a considerable amount of cash you’re not going to get access to all of the benefits that Google’s Android offers. Luckily, this is a thing of the past as Samsung has just come forth today with a new product that is sure to the spur interest in those looking to get down on Android for as cheap as possible. Of course, while you’re saving cash on monthly service charges and the like you’re sacrificing functionality. The reason I say this is because Samsung’s latest product is none other than the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6.
This device is, quite literally, a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone minus the phone. On a hardware level the device features a 3.6-inch 800 x 480 resolution, 1GHz TI OMAP processor, 3 megapixel rear facing camera, VGA front facing camera and storage sizes of either 8GB of 16GB. Unfortunately Samsung has yet to give us a price tag or release date for the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 here in the United States but our sources tell us the device will be made available in the UK at roughly £149 (~$242) for the 8GB model and  £169 (~$274) for the 16GB model.

Roger Posts Samsung Galaxy S II LTE For Pre-order

There are so many different hardware manufacturers pushing out smartphones powered by Google’s Android mobile platform that it’s very hard for those already on the market to differentiate themselves from the competition. However, there are some companies out there who have secured their footing in the market and see success with just about every single release they bring to market. Samsung is a prime example of this as they have managed to become one of the best selling Android powered smartphone manufacturers thanks to the massive success of the Galaxy S.

Many consider this device to be so successful due to the fact that Samsung released the Galaxy S on many different carriers all at once. This can be see in the US with the Epic 4G on Sprint, Captivate on AT&T, Vibrant on T-Mobile and the Fascinate on Verizon. However, the US wasn’t the only country to benefit from the Galaxy S as many different international carriers got their hands on the device including our neighbors to the north in Canada.
The same seems to be happening with the forthcoming release of the Galaxy S II as we’ve already gotten word that the device will be coming to just about every carrier here in the United States. While we haven’t heard too much in terms of a release schedule for the Canadian Galaxy S, Rogers has just posted a pre-order page for the Galaxy S II LTE. As you can probably guess from the name this device features added 4G connectivity on top of the already highly sought after 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash and 2 megapixel f4ront facing camera. Top it all off with the latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 and you’ll see why the Galaxy S II is so highly sought after.
Check our Rogers’ pre-order page for the Galaxy S II LTE here.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Now Available for $349.99

The tablet market is without a doubt the focus of the mobile industry as hardware manufacturers across the board jump on deck. Leading the pack by a hefty margin is none other than Apple’s iPad 2. First released in 2010, the iPad line-up essentially introduced the mass market to the slate tablet form factor (as we’ve come to know it) which has drawn a ton of consumer interest. Consumer interest isn’t the only thing it’s drawn as, like I mentioned above, many manufacturers have already come forth with their competitors utilizing fire power such as Google’s Android ‘Honeycomb’.

Popular tablets running Honeycomb include the Motorola XOOM and ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. However, Samsung has also gotten in the game with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. If you’re not familiar with this tablet it features a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution, 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage, 3 megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 7000 mAh battery and all of the connectivity you would expect out of a high end tablet. However, while there are models running 3G there are also models with just WiFi built-in. However, due to the technological finess of the tablet it’s still priced quite high with the 16GB WiFi only model going for as much as $599.99. This puts the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at a disadvantage against the iPad considering the only way companies have been able to scathe the tablet’s dominance is to price their tablet very low as was the case with the recently discounted HP TouchPad.
However, today the fine folks over at DailySteals have quite the deal that is sure to interest consumers looking to grab a Galaxy Tab 10.1 For the next 8 or so hours, they are offering the Galaxy Tab 10.1 for just $349.99. Make note that this deal only applies to the 16GB WiFi only model so if you are looking to get down you better do so fast. Check out the listing here.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Getting Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 on July 5

Early last year Apple came forth with their first generation tablet dubbed the iPad. At first blush many considered it to be noting more than a large iPhone but that’s where the beauty comes in. With such a large screen app developers are capable of utilizing all of that extra real estate for additional features making an iPad, in theory, packed with more functionality than the iPhone. Believe what you may about the device’s usefulness, the Apple iPad spawned a generation of tablet loving consumers with just about every hardware manufacturer in the game looking to secure their piece of the pie.

Google’s Android is one very often used platform in an effort to combat the iPad having seen itself installed on tablets from many different companies. As of late some high powered tablets running the tablet-centric Android Honeycomb including the Motorola XOOM and ASUS Eee Pad Transformer with many more just around the corner. However, the tablet that started it all in terms of Android is the Samsung Galaxy Tab having been released towards the end of last year. If you’re not familiar with this device it features a 7-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 512MB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage with microSD slot for additional storage, 3.2 megapixel rear facing camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and optional 3G. In terms of an operating system the original Galaxy Tab features Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 and not the newer Android Honeycomb as mentioned above.
While this may be a deal breaker for some, those who actually own the tablet are probably wondering when they will be getting an update to a newer version of Android. At this point there hasn’t been talk of updating the device to Android Honeycomb but we have gotten word today (by way of leaked document) that the device will at least be getting Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 on July 5th from Sprint.announcement is

Samsung Galaxy S II Sells 3 Million Units in 55 Days

There are so many different smartphones on the market that it’s become quite hard for any individual device to really make its mark. But, of course, there will always be devices like the iPhone that have a massive following pretty much guaranteeing each iteration’s success. However, the iPhone is not the only highly popular smartphone with a loyal following as the Samsung Galaxy S has done quite well for itself over the years as well.

If you’re not familiar with this device it was released on major US wireless carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint in one form or another. In fact, the device was so popular that it prompted Google to contract Samsung with the Nexus S.
With such popularity it’s no surprise that Samsung is capitalizing on this success and pushing forward with a second generation device dubbed the, you guessed it, Samsung Galaxy S II. This device features a 4.27-inch display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual0core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD slot for an additional 32GB of storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and full 1080p HD video capture, 2 megapixel front facing camera for video conference calls, 3G connectivity, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, GPS and every sensor you would expect such a phone to have including GPS, accelerometer, ambient light and more.
Those who have been following the Galaxy S II will undoubetdly know that it has yet to launch here in the United States instead choosing international markets as its debut venue. Despite this, the Galaxy S II has unsurprisingly managed to sell like hot cakes with Samsung suggesting the device has sold 3 million units in just 55 days. This, according to reports, is a world record breaking feat which definitely deserves some kudos in a world saturated with so many different devices.
When the Galaxy S II comes to North American shores will you be buying one?

Anymode Smart Case Copies iPad 2 Smart Cover, Quickly Gets Pulled

It’s virtually inevitable that when something gets big enough that something will be copied. Just take a look at the apparel market which sees high volumes of copy cat merchandise make its way to the United States from overseas. The electronics market isn’t much different which everything from the iPhone to television sets seeing copy cats make their way from the East. Of course, thanks to US Customs it’s becoming difficult for bootleggers to get their products into the United States that directly copy commercially available products. But, what happens when a product is blatantly ripped off but marketed to say otherwise? Well, you probably get something like the Anymode Smart Case.
As you may quickly realize, Apple has a similar case dubbed the Smart Cover for the iPad 2. What’s unique about this cover is the fact that it utilizes magnets to automatically align itself onto the product and is able to be folded in various ways thus transforming from a Smart Cover to a stand. Well, as you could have guessed, the Smart Case does virtually the same thing while maintaining pretty much the exact same aesthetics. The only difference? It wasn’t made for the iPad 2 but instead the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. To make matters even worse the case was listen on Anymode’s website with Samsung’s stamp of approval. This led many to believe that Samsung was conspiring with Anymode to rip off Apple’s design in favor of the Galaxy Tab.
Luckily, it seems that this is not the case. Samsung has released a statement today saying that Anymode’s Smart Case was not approved by the company and has been unlisted on the web. This comes as a sigh of relief in leui of all the copy cat law suits flying around between Apple and Samsung.b

Samsung Galaxy S II Now Available in Canada on Bell & Virgin Mobile

Samsung is one of the more popular smartphone manufacturers backing the Android mobile platform. As you’re sure to know on the market they currently have the highly successful Samsung Galaxy S which has appeared on just about every major wireless carrier here in the US in one form or another. For example, the device is dubbed the Fascinate on Verizon, Vibrant on T-Mobile and Epic 4G on Sprint (just to name a few). In fact, the Galaxy S was so popular that Google commissioned Samsung to produce a similar device appropriately dubbed the Nexus S.

However, due to the high speed at which the market changes the Galaxy S has quickly become nothing more than a superphone of yesteryear. Luckily, Samsung isn’t out for the count as even when the Galaxy S was in its hey day they were already hard at work on a second device named the Galaxy S II. If you’re not familiar with this device it features specs that many would consider to be cream of the crop. The Galaxy S II features a 4.27-inch Super AMOLED display with 800 x 480 resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with microSD slot for an additional 32GB of storage, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with 1080p video capture, 2 megapixel front facing camera for video conference calls and last but not least Google’s latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 mobile platform.
Unfortunately, despite being announced quite some time ago the Samsung Galaxy S II has yet to make its way to US shores. Luckily, our neighbors to the north aren’t so unlucky as it was just made known that the device is now available on not one, but two different Canadian carriers – Bell and Virgin Mobile. The device can be had for approximately $170 with 3-year contract or around $600 with no contract whatsoever. What will it be?
